Kori Williams is a Brand Strategist, Creative Director & Serial Entrepreneur. She currently serves as Founder/Creative Director of MasonryDigital, a Miami based advertising agency, and CEO/Founder of BluDot Brands, a designer, developer, and marketer of a broad range of branded consumer products. So, she’s clearly smart. She’s also involved in the Crypto world — so isn’t new to the transfer of funds ether (see what I did there? :)).

Yup, I checked the slack and sure enough. I just got fucked.

I’ve used Kori’s picture because we hear about phishing attacks on Token and ICO communities inside Slack every hour of every day. But, by putting a real face to the problem, we make it more real. Obviously I’ve asked for permission to identify her and link to her Twitter profile.

The conversation between Kori and a moderator literally unfolded in front of me inside the MyEtherWallet community. I can’t emphasize enough, how surreal that was for the CEO of a security company that has a mission to help companies and communities stay protected from phishing attacks.

As I was hanging out in the MyEtherWallet Slack community, Kori asked for advice regarding her most recent transfer of funds. The conversation unfolded right in front of me as you can see in the screen shot below.

Sad.

If you’re a Token or ICO community manager, or a community manager for any other type of crypto community on Slack, consider installing the MetaCert Security App for Slack. Companies like SingularDTV use it to keep their community more safe from phishing attacks. Other customers include IBM, F5, Blackhawk Network, SAP, Sage, VSP, AppDirect, British Government…

The security app doesn’t yet have the ability to monitor DMs — that wasn’t possible when we launched the app. But we’re working hard to get this updated in the coming weeks. Until then, install the app and be alerted the second a malicious link is shared inside your Slack. We also provide some amazing analytics that are only available on the Slack paid account.
